MY FULL MOON RITUAL

I am currently writing this blog on the day of the super full moon in Libra. I have decided to tweak my Full Moon ritual and thought I’d share with you all. Before I get into what that will entail I will get into my normal routine.

It is said by many that the Full Moon is a time to release and the New moon is a time to set new intentions and manifest. I personally utilize both moon cycles to set any new intentions I may have. I do this by looking up the exact time when the moon will be 100% full in my time zone. Then, I set my alarm clock that day about 10-15 minutes before the moon is at its peak. I have a small spiral notebook that I use to write down any goals or intentions I would like to set for that moon cycle. After, I take that piece of paper and fold it up and place it under a white candle. Once, under the white candle I light the candle and focus on the flame while focusing on my intentions. Sometimes, I’ll say affirmations and other times I meditate.

So you’re probably asking what am I adding to my current ritual? Well, the answer is FASTING.

I will now do a 24 hour fast every new or full moon. The fasting will include water or tea only. I’m using fasting for it’s spiritual benefits. There are many different reasons why people fast. Some do it for health/weight loss etc.. My focus is on the spiritual aspect. Fasting can help one attain a state of inner balance and harmony. Full Moons are known to heighten intuition, emotions & sensitivity. It is easy to feel a little more imbalanced during these particular moon cycles. I believe being in a more grounded state during this time will help me see things clearly and allow for my energy to be purified and cleansed. This will help any intention I send out into the universe. When it comes to manifestation being clear on what you want is the most important step to get your desired outcome. It is also important to allow yourself to let go and release your intentions with complete trust that the universe will work in your favor.

I plan to do more fasting going forward on other days but for now these times will be a staple in my moon rituals. I will most likely write a blog dedicated to spiritual fasting in the future.

Do you have a particular Full Moon or New Moon ritual you do? Is fasting something you do or interested in? Please let me know below.

SELF ISOLATION*

Checking in, I know it’s been awhile. I hope everyone is using this down time to reflect and find new outlets for your creativity. Some things I have done indoors is paint. I am not an artist by any means but I was able to use Youtube to follow along and had my own home paint session which was fun. I am a complete beginner but below is a picture of my painting.

Reading has also been very therapeutic for me at this time. I am not a big TV watcher so I haven’t watched a lot of things. It’s a great time to write or pick up a new hobby.

Things to do:

-Paint -Draw

-Write- Read

-Cook-Sew

-Play board games

Try something new or learn a new skill. The internet has an abundance of free courses, tutorials, etc… What are some creative things you’ve been doing with this extra down time?

The Natural Escape… Grounding Benefits

Life can really get hectic sometimes with this “go, go, go” mentality that a lot of us experience on a daily. Wake up, get ready, go to work, go to the gym, come home do it all over again. Then if you have a family, it’s take the kids to school before work which includes getting them ready, making them breakfast, then starting your day. After work, you have to pick up the kids, make them dinner and if they are involved in other activities take them to that etc.. I guess you can say life gets crazy for a majority of us. Some have demanding jobs that take all of their time and it leaves many of us asking, “Can I get a little time for myself?”

With all of these stressors, one thing that helps me is grounding or earthing. Depending on the season or the weather of where you’re located you may only be able to do this during Spring or Summer. So what is grounding which is also called earthing? It’s when you make direct skin contact with the earth. An example is walking barefoot on grass or dirt. This helps you to reconnect with earth and bring you back to balance, a neutral state. It is said that our bodies make their own electricity and that pollutants and modern technology are capable of throwing that electrical energy off. Making contact with the earth allows those negative ions from the surface to make their way into our bodies which then allows our body to release the free radicals we’ve been accumulating.

What are the benefits of grounding (earthing)?

-It helps improve sleep

-Helps reduce anxiety/depression or any issues that may be linked to insomnia.

-Reduce inflammation

-Immunity system benefits

You can use a search engine to look up earthing and you will find ways to incorporate this more into your life & many other benefits. It is really simple to do, all you need to do is make direct skin contact with the Earth’s soil or any conductive surface that is in direct contact with the earth.

I would recommend walking barefoot at a beach, a park or in a grassy backyard to reap the benefits of this process. If you live in a colder climate they do have earthing sheets and mats that have similar benefits so you wont have to work on a frozen surface.

So is earthing or grounding a part of your spiritual practice? If so, do you feel it benefits your lifestyle?
